Relief from the burden of debt sometimes comes in the form of bankruptcy. When a consumer's account is under bankruptcy, action on the account is crucial and timely. Collection agencies have timebound obligations when a consumer files bankruptcy. If you receive notification of a bankruptcy for an account in collections:

  • You must notify your collection agency immediately with the Notice of Bankruptcy.
  • They must take proper actions following this notification.
The filing of a bankruptcy by a consumer puts a stay on the account which prevents creditors from collecting the account.

Bankruptcy is a viable option for consumer to seek debt relief. Please immediately report Notice of Bankruptcy to your collection agency and any third-parties that may need this information.
